Mindfulness is everywhere these days, but is it really as beneficial as it’s often made out be? Is it just a middle-class conceit or is it a process that will help all of us in one shape or form? This audio from the British Psychological Society will hopefully map out what mindfulness is and what it isn’t, what meditation can help with and the possible downsides of mindfulness.
Some of the evidence for the positive effects of mindfulness is promising. Mindfulness meditation could offer a cost-effective way to help many people with mental health problems. However, the audio discovers that trials are ongoing, mindfulness is not risk-free, and it may not suit everyone.
